"when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible"
2024 was the year I lived my life as if inside a film, capturing moments that felt candid, cinematic, and deeply emotional. My journey began at Lago di Orta, waking up to the serene beauty of its waters before photographing a heartfelt wedding in Pettenasco. Summer took me to Genova, where I zipped around on a Vespa, documenting fleeting moments with my trusty point-and-shoot camera. I waited at Milan Central Station, only to abandon a delayed train and embark on a spontaneous road trip with clients, drinking coffee and tuning in to Italian radio stations as we chased golden hour together.
I photographed weddings perched high in the mountains of Malaga and overlooking the sea in Barcelona. One unforgettable night had me walking under the stars after a 12-hour, festival-themed wedding in the heart of Somerset. That night, I slept in a tent alongside my dedicated second photographer, laughing together after endless days and nights of work—a true dream team.
On the final day of the year, I found myself at the Ritzy Cinema in Brixton, capturing my last wedding of 2024. The ceremony unfolded in one of the screen rooms, where the couple shared their love of film with their guests. They projected clips from their favorite movies, read a poignant passage from When Harry Met Sally on stage, and closed with rolling credits set to Just Like Honey by The Jesus and Mary Chain—a perfect nod to Lost in Translation.
As the song played and the guests filtered out, I felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude and accomplishment. There I was, ending the year doing what I love in one of my favorite places: the cinema. It was a moment that felt natural and genuine, one where I couldn’t ask for more as the clock ticked toward New Year’s Eve.
The ceremony itself was as unique as the couple, with friends and family contributing to make it deeply personal. After a joyful confetti toss, we traveled together via public transport—a lively, candid journey—to the next venue. The celebration continued at The Bedford in Balham, an iconic bar, restaurant, and live music venue. Its stunning architecture and stylish deco perfectly complemented the day’s cinematic vibe.
The night ended on a high note with a ceilidh—a spirited and unforgettable dance that was an absolute joy to photograph. Every moment, from the intricate steps of the dance to the raw emotions on display, felt like a scene out of a film.
Looking back, 2024 wasn’t just a year of weddings; it was a year of stories, connections, and genuine emotions told through my lens. Each moment felt like a frame from a movie—candid, cinematic, and full of life.
